Arlington Skating Community,
As per the Order from the State Department of Public Health
all ice rinks in Massachusetts must close starting at 5 pm today(Friday, October 23rd), to 12:01 am on Saturday, November 7th. As a result the Ed Burns Arena will be closed for all ice rentals, skating programming, and public skating until Saturday, November 7th.
All ice rentals, pre paid public skating, and recreation classes will receive the appropriate credits to their household account.
Although this is very disappointing, we are hoping that this two week shutdown will help reverse the trend of Covid-19 cases related to ice rink facilities. Upon opening on November 7th there will certainly be new guidelines for our facility and most likely all skating facilities in Massachusetts. Although the State has not provided any specific guidance as to what their recommendations will be, I can tell you that upon our facility opening masks will be required for all on ice activity including hockey and our locker rooms will remain closed until further notice. Over the next two weeks the staff at the Ed Burns Arena will also be reevaluating other rink operating procedures to make sure we are providing the safest environment possible for our users.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support of the Ed Burns Arena and Arlington Recreation.
