Covid Safety Precautions Governing ALL GCT Tennis Activities, for Instructors AND Players:

  1. MASKS are to be worn to and from the courts and on the courts if you are within 6 feet of anyone.

  2. No socializing on courts. Please leave courts immediately after lesson is over. No shaking hands, high fives, or hugging, please.

  3. Everyone must self-screen, or have their parents screen them, prior to arriving. This includes checking body temperature (temperature of 100.0°F or above is considered a fever), and for symptoms including fever, cough, shortness of breath, gastrointestinal symptoms, abdominal pain, unexplained rash, new loss of taste/smell, muscle aches, or any other symptoms that feel like a cold. Anyone with a fever of 100.0°F or above, and/or any other signs of illness will NOT be permitted to enter the courts. Please refer to the Universal Covid Guidelines:

  4. Players should bring their own hand sanitizer to lessons to use at any time. Instructors will also have hand sanitizer available and will encourage participants to use it throughout the lessons with regular sanitization and water breaks.

  5. Participants are expected and encouraged to maintain at least six feet of separation from others. Instructors will promote this social distancing through their assigning of court positions and their modeling of appropriate behavior.

  6. Participants should bring their own water bottles and rackets. No sharing of equipment. All bottles and other equipment need to be stored at least six feet from others’ when not in use.

  7. No spitting, chewing gum, licking fingers, chewing sunflower seeds, etc.

  8. There is really no way to effectively play tennis without touching a tennis ball. No research has been done on whether the virus is transmitted by touching tennis balls. But United States Tennis Association experts with Covid-19 experience think the chances are very low.  Regardless, we will be encouraging regular use of hand sanitizer throughout the lessons and reminding participants to refrain from touching their faces after handling tennis balls.
