Seasonal Employment Opportunities with Arlington Recreation


The Arlington Recreation Department offers a variety of temporary and part-time employment opportunities each year. This includes both temporary and/or part-time positons at the Ed Burns Arena, Reservoir Beach, or within our various programs (Afterschool, Summer Camp, Preschool, Etc.).
 
Positions are posted as needed and based off individual program/department needs. Employment opportunities may be subject to change at any time and may be limited due to rehiring of returning part-time seasonal employees.

The Town of Arlington Recreation Department will continue to accept applications on an as needed basis for the following summer 2021 seasonal employment opportunities:
 
Currently Accepting Applications for the following 2021 seasonal positions (as needed/until filled):
Lifeguard/Water Safety Instructors (WSI)
Work is available as Reservoir Beach. Lifeguards help ensure the safety of swimmers and perform general maintenance duties. WSIs, in addition to the previously stated responsibilities, also help teach swim lessons. Applicants must possess a current Lifeguard Certification, First Aid Certification, and CPR Certification. Certification in Water Safety Instruction is a plus. Hours will vary between 20-25 per week during the hours of 9:30am-7:30pm, which includes early evenings and weekends. Individuals are expected to be available and commit to employment for the entire beach season (June 28th through August 20th, dates/hours subject to change). Starting rate is $14.75 per hour for Lifeguards and $16.25 per hour for WSIs.
 
Program Supervisors
Program Supervisors are responsible for helping with the overall operation and success of programs. This individual will direct, supervise, and evaluate the work of program staff in the recreation programs. Responsibilities include providing direction and instruction to staff, training them in the instruction of activities/duties, and communicating daily with members of the public/ participants/parents. Individuals are expected to be available and commit to employment for the entire summer season (June 28th through August 20th). Must be available to attended/help organize staff training in early June prior to summer season. Starting rate is $18.25 per hour. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Program Specialists
Program Specialists work with program counselors to engage participants in unique and challenging activities on a daily basis. Program Specialists are hired to oversee a specific focus area in the Club Rec program only. Areas of focus include Arts & Crafts, Sports & Games, Music & Drama, and STEM. Applicants should note specific subject area interested in and also should have previous experience/knowledge in this subject matter. Specialists are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities for the entire program. Individuals are expected to be available and commit to employment for the entire summer season (June 28th through August 20th). Individuals must also be available to attended required staff training in early June, prior to summer season. Starting rate at $16.25 per hour. Must be 18 years of age or older. College student preferred.

ED BURNS ARENA EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Each year, Arlington Recreation offers a variety of seasonal part-time employment opportunities at the Ed Burns Arena. Positions include Shift Assistants (Ticket Booth) & Shift Supervisors (Supervisor/Zamboni Driver) with employment ranging from early fall to late spring. Employment opportunities and job descriptions for the 2021-2022 Ed Burns Arena season will be posted mid-summer 2021.
